The custom project icons don’t look right for me. When I use a standard icon, it’s fine, but the selection is very limited, so I wanted to upload my own.
So the preview looks fine too: the icon is shown on the background for both light and dark mode. I’ve specially chosen PNG images with transparent backgrounds.
I’m not sure if this is the same issue, but I’m noticing a background color on my custom icons after the latest update. I can’t seem to remove it and it’s totally destroyed my custom icon/color-coding system!
Looks like this has been fixed today, thank you! The icons on my browser now look like the preview, with the colored background. This also means that if I want the background to be a custom color, i can just upload a JPG without a transparent background, so this does provide the best of both worlds.
I found this post while trying to fix project icons which had changed in their appearance today.
For the past while they showed a black background wherever the image was transparent. So, I worked with that behavior.
However, today the background was showing the selected project icon color. That would be fine too. So I went to rework my color choices for my custom icons.
Now when I try to upload some revised icons, Asana just displays the project color in an otherwise empty icon. I’ve tried both PNG or JPG (128px square)
Yeah same - it hasn’t bothered me as much but I did notice that the lists in the left hand panel don’t show the icons if using Asana icons. However the icons show up properly in the top left when you open a project. Something a bit weird going on - all below projects have icons, but only custom ones are showing.
Hi @Andrew_Gay , have you had a chance to look into this? I have the same issue with a customer that is using transparent PNGs.
Previously, the background colour was either white or black depending on the Asana theme colour. Now, the background takes on the colour of the project icon instead, as per the examples that others are reporting above.
