Templates for portfolios
I would like to add what would be a critical feature of Portfolio Templates for our team!
In the Portfolio Template, tasks should be able to be multi-homed within the different project templates in the portfolio. That way tasks that need cross-project visibility are already in all the places they need to be when you create a new Portfolio of projects from the Portfolio Template!

Even just the ability to duplicate a portfolio would be great here! Would love to know if any updates are in the pipeline here?

Hi there, I would really love to have an update on this. Right now, if you have a TEMPLATE for a single project, tasks within that project template can remain linked to other live projects. This isn’t helpful for developing Concept - Launch strategies for new products or campaigns each year. The scenerio at the top is what we go through each year. We have our “Go To Market” strategies which start with a concept project, move into a development phase, and then into a launch phase. These happen yearly and it would be great if all the flows, dependencies, cross project task links could be incorporated into a portfolio template so that we don’t have to go about setting all these up each and every time, for multiple different strategies annually.

I often manually add fields to portfolios to match the view in another portfolio (my Team’s main portfolio). Having the option to select from a template would be great.

Basically need the ability to create Portfolio Templates AND have ALL the same functionality you do on a Project-> Task level. (Multi-select + mass change projects, Portfolio Rules, GANTT charting, etc…) This would allow us to use Asana as Asana wants to be used instead of the way nearly every team I’ve been on has had to hack it (Portfolio = Pillars, Projects = Team, Task = Projects, Sub-Tasks = Tasks)

Hi Team,
It would be super helpful if there was a way to create portfolio level templates. I have a portfolio which has rules and nested portfolios and projects under it. I have to replicate nested portfolio creation for every other brand that we onboard leading to a lot of manual repetitive work and time.
If there was a way to create templates for portfolio that would save a lot of time and manual work.
P.S. If there is a tip or alternative for this currently, would really appreciate that as well.

This would be a great feature for onboarding new ‘clients’ who each use the same set of projects. Right now I’m making new portfolios manually with the same set of project templates every other month. Please add this!!

i also voted for it! its open since 2021. It cant be so hard to implement basic features of folder/portfolio templates.

Up voting for this feature. It’s currently painful to have to re-add custom fields from other portfolios. @Asana, please include this into your product roadmap as it’ll really help to streamline things.

This is very much needed. The templates for portfolios and projects should also include pre-built versions of saved views since different teams working within a single portfolio or project may want to view the content different ways.

We desperately need this feature as more and more functionality has been moved to Portfolios over the years. At the very least, allow us to duplicate an existing portfolio so we don’t have to start all over with custom fields, sorts, and saved views. It takes forever to recreate the dashboard elements alone!
