As we close out 2017, we find ourselves at a natural time to start planning for the new year. How do you prepare for the start of a new year, whether in Asana or out of Asana, and for work or your personal life? Do you set goals in Asana and if so, how do you organize your goals in tasks and/or projects? We’d love to learn from you!
I’ll kick things off by saying that in my personal life I prepare for the new year in a few different ways. I like to free write by hand to figure out what’s on my mind and what I want to work on. From there, I select a few goals and then I use a goals project in Asana to keep track of my goals for the year. This year I’m setting goals in different parts of my life, so I’ll create project sections for each category (ex. Friends, Career, Fun, etc.). Another non Asana thing I like to do at the end of the year is clean up, clean out, and donate. In the spirit of The Life Changing Magic of Tidying, I like to keep the things that are meaningful and give away the things that are not in order to get the year started off with intention.
If you’re looking for guidance on where to start with goal setting, I highly recommend using a tool called the Wheel of Life. The Wheel of Life helps you look at your life in a handful of categories that can help you get really focused about what you want to work on.
