Hi everyone,
Last week, we launched RBAC for View Permissions to Release Preview.
We are thrilled to share another enhancement to Asana’s enterprise governance capabilities! Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) for Create Permissions is officially available in Release Preview.
As organizations scale, maintaining a clean, organized, and compliant workspace is essential. This new feature provides Super Admins with advanced, centralized control over who can create core components within your domain, helping you prevent data clutter and align Asana perfectly with your internal operational models.
What is Changing?
Previously, any domain member could create new objects, which could sometimes lead to “project sprawl” or unchecked data creation. With this update, Super Admins can now restrict creation permissions for the following core Asana features:
- Projects
- Portfolios
- Goals
- Public Teams
- Read-Only Links
A Seamless User Experience: To keep the interface clean, users without creation permissions will not see grayed-out or disabled buttons; instead, these entry points will be completely hidden from their workspace view. These permissions are enforced comprehensively across the web app, mobile apps, APIs, task conversions, and AI features to ensure total data compliance.
Plan Availability
This feature is available to customers on the following plans:
- Enterprise+
- Enterprise with the Permissions Management Add-On
How to Get Started
Super Admins can begin configuring these permissions today within the Admin Console. All adjustments and updates to these roles are fully tracked within your domain’s Audit Log for complete visibility.
We would love to hear your thoughts! Let us know your feedback or drop any questions in the comments below as you test these new capabilities in Release Preview.
