Our team recently explored switching from a manual PTO tracking project to Asana’s new built-in Out of Office feature. One gap we’ve run into is that there doesn’t appear to be a way to see all team members’ OOO dates in a single shared calendar view like we can in our PTO project.
What we’re trying to do: See a consolidated calendar view of our entire team’s upcoming OOO periods, so anyone on the team can quickly check availability at a glance, similar to how a shared team calendar works.
What we’ve tried: We currently maintain a dedicated PTO tracking project with tasks assigned to each person and date ranges reflecting their time away. The Calendar view in that project gives us exactly what we need. We’d love to retire that manual workaround in favor of the native OOO feature, but can’t find an equivalent view there.
What’s not working: The native OOO feature only surfaces a teammate’s away status when you hover over their avatar or attempt to assign them a task. There’s no way to view all upcoming OOO across the team in one place. For teams doing any kind of capacity or coverage planning, this makes the native feature difficult to rely on as a standalone solution.
Would love to see a shared team OOO view added to the roadmap for native OOO.
