Hi the new gmail sync feature to include updates on future replies is great. However, we are still in great need of syncing emails to existing tasks. This is important because most often, project tasks are already created by the time email communication is happening. The inability to add an email or multiple emails to the relevant task without creating a new task really defeats the efficiency of this automation. Would anyone else benefit from this feature upgrade? Thank you, ---

Hello, A few weeks ago I saw the exciting new feature of syncing your email responses to an asana ticket automatically through the Gmail Add-On: ![image](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/asana/original/3X/8/8/8844d5273d39291480171777b9c3333a8767e272.png) However, I notice that it only seems to build this connection if I make a NEW Asana task through the add-on. If, instead, I search for a pre-existing asana task, it does successfully pair them (so the task opens every time I open that email thread), but I have no option to sync emails to it. Is there a way to trigger email syncing on pre-existing asana tasks once they’re paired through this tool? ---

I often need to add emails to existing tasks in Asana. As I work primarily out of Asana, that linked email for the task I am working on does not show and I need to search my emails to follow up. I see this has been requested many times before and wondering if it can be revisited? ---

Is there any other integration to enable this since the Assana Google Workspace integration does not work and the Email tasks to Asana feature ([https://help.asana.com/hc/en-us/articles/14111999838363-Email-tasks-to-Asana](https://help.asana.com/hc/en-us/articles/14111999838363-Email-tasks-to-Asana)) also doesn’t cover this. If only every task had an email assigned to it somehow. ---

I’m unsure if this is completely related; however, now my Google Workplace Add-On keeps giving me an error message saying that it could not attach the email to the created task, which I initiated through the Google plugin. Yet, when I go to the project, I see the task created, which says it is syncing email replies. This isn’t syncing either, despite what it says in the task. I now have to manually add notes from connected emails to the created Asana task. Please let me know if this is happening to anyone else or if anyone has recommended solutions, as it has added to my workflow. Still, this integration piece is no longer functioning as it should. ---

Just started playing around with this feature and this is a huge letdown so I hope it gets some attention! We have a company inbox for purchase orders and I would love to set up a system of autoforwarding based on gmail filters to route orders from specific email addresses to individual projects with specific rules to set up due dates and roles for collaborators, etc… Then when I go to manage the inbox I can just search for the subject and set up syncing so that collaborators can follow along with the email thread and pdf’s being sent back and forth are uploaded as comments. ---

Upvote from me as well - I want the ability to link an e-mail to multiple tasks. In my case, there was an e-mail thread and I created a personal task linked to the e-mail to submit a new project request. That project request itself is submitted via an Asana form, so I can’t create the new task directly from the e-mail thread. Now that I have the project request created via the Asana form, I can’t link that e-mail thread to the new task. Instead, we’re basically doing sneaker networking - I need to forward the e-mail to a colleague and then have them try to link the e-mail to the project request ticket. This is a bit backwards. ---

There was a previous thread on this topic which started in 2018 but is now closed. Is it still the case that yuou cannot add a new email to an existing task and then sync future emails and replies. Seems ridiculous that what many regard as a basis requirement has still not been added some 7 years later! ---

Hi all My workaround is to create a new task with the Gmail addon (with the sync activated); and then to “nest” that task as a subtask of my target task. Casso .app fixes this for Asana + Gmail/Outlook/or any email platform you use. Saves attachments to the tasks, update existing tasks in Asana by adding the url of the task to the subject. Update one task with multiple email threads. Saves email and replies to task comments. Target one reply to update a task. Or create new tasks, with Claude AI summary using the email thread as the context. Set your Casso forwarding email as the CC with “task:xxxx” Casso assigns that task on creation or update, as the subject and every time an email is sent/received, the task is updated with replies and attachments automatically. No extensions, no zaps, no workflows, no automations to setup. ---

I would absolutely love to see this happen! There are SO many times that I create a task and THEN receive an email about it and I need to add it to the current task to keep track of it.
