Multiple approvals in the same task

I’m running into an issue with approval-based rules and hoping someone has found a workaround.

I have a parent task with multiple subtasks, including two separate approval tasks:

  • Leadership & Legal Review for Considering Termination Letter
  • Leadership & Legal Review for Case Summary

I created two separate rules using the trigger “When approval status is changed.”

  • Rule 1 updates the Considering Termination Meeting Status field when the Considering Termination approval is approved.
  • Rule 2 updates the Case Summary Status field when the Case Summary approval is approved.

I added a Task name contains condition to each rule to differentiate between the two approval tasks, but it doesn’t seem to work. When one approval is approved, the rule is not properly distinguishing which approval task triggered the action.

Has anyone successfully separated multiple approval tasks within the same parent task? Is there another way to identify which approval task triggered the rule?

I’ve included screenshots for reference. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

It looks like both of your approval subtasks contain the word “Leadership” so that’s why it would be triggering on both. Consider changing your Case Summary task rule to look for “Case Summary” and then see if that works.
