Move a task to a Section when it's converted to a project

I have a large request intake project, and I want to move a task to a separate section only when it’s converted to a project. This so we can keep this large project clean and potentially report on how many tasks we’ve turned into projects and the easiest way I can think of to do that is by moving them to e “Converted to Project” section.

Can I build a rule that will move a task to that section when it’s manually converted to a project? I can’t really use a rule the other way (move to section → convert to project) because we have a few different project templates that we use and the criteria to determine which one we need to use on a specific task is very nuanced and needs to be a manual decision.

@Sam_Barnett,

Don’t forget to click the title to scroll to the top and vote by clicking the Vote button; that’s the quickest and most effective way to express your support for a request.

Until/if Asana offers this, you could:

  • Keep your project filtered to only show Incomplete tasks to keep the project clean
  • Use an advanced search saved report to report on these. All such tasks will contain “[Converted to project]” in the title

Thanks,

Larry
