Merged Account-Assignee and Collaborator

It appears that when two accounts are merged ie my personal workspace and my organization that while the workspace remains distinct, the associated email is not distinct and any attempt to use it as an assignee or collaborator will default to my organization not my original personal workspace. @Marie can you confirm that I understand this correctly.
