maintaining list view tab formatting in a project

Is there an easy way to copy the formatting of a tab view and apply that format to one or more of the other tabs in a project?

We have List view default projects with numerous tabs that are copied from the main List tab to show filtered views. These projects are launched from a common project template. In moving from tab to tab, we like to keep the formatting of the tabs consistent to simplify audience consumption our reviews. To achieve this in the initial template, we used the “make a copy” feature to create child tabs from the main List view, then filtered/sorted/grouped each tab into a useful view.

Currently, if there is a change to the source/parent tab (List view), we have to painstakingly update each child tab (~15) in the project to reflect those changes (e.g. add/delete visible fields, column ordering, column widths, etc). We’d love a method to easily update or sync the formatting of tabs of this type to a source/parent List tab.

Perhaps extend the ‘make a copy’ of a tab feature with the option/attribute that the newly created tab stays in sync with attributes of the source tab (e.g. fields displayed, column formatting, column ordering).

Perhaps there is still time to make the November release :slight_smile:

@Randy_Boutin1,

Would this feature request, which is in development now, help?

If so, you should vote there, and I can merge this topic into that one.

If not, I can make this “votable.”

Thanks,

Larry

Thanks, Larry. Could you point me to the feature you referenced? I’ll check it out.

Sorry, @Randy_Boutin1, for leaving that out; I just updated maintaining list view tab formatting in a project - #2 by lpb to include it properly.

Thanks. I had a look at the referenced feature. I support that feature request ( I need to upvote it), but see my request as different/additive. Both are aimed at improving the customer experience by reducing admin project management toil.

My request simplifies the ongoing maintenance of projects once created from template by reducing the time and toil required to keep the formatting (e.g. fields displayed, column order, column width) of selected list view tabs in the project in sync.

Thanks for your help,

@Randy_Boutin1,

Sounds good.

Click the title to scroll to the top and vote by clicking the Vote button (as I just did).

Thanks,

Larry
