After the number of projects increased, I always have to click “Show more projects” to select the one I want from the list.
Is there a way to display all projects in the list without going through this step?
You can use the search engine to search for projects. But I am always surprised when people want to scroll a list of projects, this isn’t really sustainable. What are you trying to achieve?
I agree with @Bastien_Siebman , search is always faster but I understand some users don’t like typing.
If you are a fan of the sidebar, I would suggest you hover over a Team or Portfolio (ideally in your Starred section) and then scroll through their flyout menu, instead of scrolling through the ‘Projects’ section of the sidebar (which I recommend collapsing at all times and use Starred instead).
I’m not sure if the intention of my question was clearly understood since I’m not very familiar with English.
My question is about a situation where using search is not efficient at all.
When the number of created projects increases, it’s impossible to remember all their names. I might even unconsciously remember a completely wrong project name. In such cases, using search can never be considered a good method.
Also, when only two or three more projects would be visible by clicking “Show more projects,” it seems inefficient to spend time using search and typing just to see them.
Hi @윤여상 , perhaps in that case, the project browser may help you? Click on the ‘Projects’ section in your sidebar and you will find ‘Browse projects’.
On the other hand, I know users that only use their My tasks. So no need to jump in and out of projects or learn projects names. Just work out of your My tasks, where you can click into projects within a task’s details pane, for example.
Hi, @윤여상 .
I should like a little more information, if you please.
In what context do you wish to display a list of projects? Perhaps when assigning tasks to a project?
Thank you for your feedback.
Until recently, I managed various clients and their related tasks together in “My tasks.” However, I am now reorganizing my workflow by separating each client into its own project, so that multiple ongoing tasks for each client can be managed as subtasks within that project.
The “Project Browser” you mentioned still seems somewhat different from what I’m looking for.
If the project list were always fully expanded instead of simplified, I would simply need to move my mouse pointer, scroll, and click to access the project I want.
In the current UI, every time Asana is closed and reopened, I have to click “Show more projects” again.
Even though this situation may occur only two or three times a day, including unintentional shutdowns, I still find it inefficient — perhaps I’m being a bit particular about it.
In any case, I want the full list of projects to always be displayed so that I can access any project at any time without additional clicks or navigating to other menus.
In that sense, the Project Browser also feels inefficient to me, since I have to enter that menu first to see the list and then go back to it again whenever I want to switch to another project.
The situation I’m referring to applies to every moment when using Asana.
I want all projects to always be visible in the list on the left side, without having to click “Show more projects.” (Of course, this excludes archived projects.)
At the very least, I would like to be able to change the settings to increase the number of projects that are always shown in the list.
You see us dancing around the question because you simply can’t, we were trying to find a workaround.
And our main point is: you’ll soon have too many projects to scroll through anyway, so you’d better rely on other means, like the search, the favorites…
The first conclusion is that it is not currently possible to display all projects in Asana.
Perhaps you’d prefer a folder list displayed as icons, like in Windows Explorer?
The main alternative is to use search and favorites, as others have suggested.
Another option would be to create multiple teams and assign projects to them, or use portfolios.
Thank you for your response.
I suppose I have to be satisfied with the fact that it is not possible to set it up the way I want.
Using favorites seems like the most practical alternative, but personally, I do not prefer this method because users have to add projects to favorites manually.
@윤여상,
Have you tried this:
Search > Advanced search:
Then click the star to name and save the search results, and in one click from the sidebar you get a list of all projects w/o “Show more:”
Thanks,
Larry
Thank you for your response.
Among all the methods suggested so far, this one best meets my requirements!
By setting a few rules in the project names and adding specific characters, it seems possible to achieve fully automated filtering.
Although there is a slight delay, it even automatically reflects when projects are added or deleted, which is perfect.
