One of Asana’s notable features is its task multihoming ability.
But,
We can add tasks from a project in a private team to a project in another team.
Is there any configuration that prevents this?
This can be prevented by only giving a user Commenter access in the private team, but otherwise Asana doesn’t offer very fine-grained permissions, though some have been added (mostly for Enterprise plans).

Indeed, I see.
After conducting my own investigation, I find it troublesome that even tasks from private teams and projects can be shared with external parties and thus their content becomes visible.
Since Asana does not offer the capability to restrict this, it seems that the only course of action to ensure security is to employ other systems, such as Box, in conjunction with it.
You can add a Product Feedback request (perhaps check first to make sure one doesn’t already exist for this).
I don’t see how any application can fully prevent such issues, or how Box would be less susceptible, but if that will help in your case, that’s great.
Thanks,
Larry
