Invitation to a Project created "My Company"

Can anyone help me understand what happened? I utilize “Personal Projects” and have for years. I recently tried to add another user to a Personal Project and it wouldn’t allow me to. I kept getting an error. So then I had this other person instead invite me, using the email that is tied to my account, and it created a whole new workspace called “My Company.” Can anyone shed some light on why this happened and any suggestions to fix? I don’t necessarily want an entirely new and distinct workspace from my already existing “Personal Projects.”

Hi @Joel_Charles, I’m sorry to hear you’re experiencing issues with “Personal Projects.” This feature is completely separate from any company workspaces or organizations you may have access to, as it was designed to keep personal tasks and projects distinct from your work.

Currently, we are in the process of phasing out “Personal Projects” since it’s an older feature that we no longer maintain. As a result, issues like this may arise, and we’re unfortunately unable to provide troubleshooting. We recommend transitioning to a workspace for your personal tasks instead of using “Personal Projects.” You can easily create a new workspace and move your projects over using a third-party integration like Ditto.

For security reasons, I’ve removed the screenshot from your post, as it included your email address. Based on the screenshot, it appears your colleague invited you to a new workspace they created. If you’d like to get more information about the status of your account, please feel free to contact our Support team. They have access to your account information and can provide additional assistance.

I hope this helps!

Ah, okay that does help to understand. So this new Workspace that was created “My Company” is where I should migrate everything that is currently in “Personal Projects”?

Hi @Joel_Charles, unfortunately we don’t have access to account details here in the Forum to confirm, but it looks like this workspace actually belongs to the person who invited you. I’d recommend creating your own workspace to avoid ownership issues. This way, you can control the privacy of your projects and decide the level of access you wish to give to your guests.

You can find more information about workspaces here.

Thanks @Vanessa_N, yes you’re correct that the “My Company” that was created by default, is technically owned by the other person. So if PERSONAL PROJECTS are going away then I’ll create my own Workspace to move everything over to.

Thank you, @Joel_Charles. You can rest assured that all personal projects users will be notified in advance when the phasing-out process begins, and the ETA hasn’t even been defined yet. However, since this is an old and no longer supported feature, our team is unable to fix any bugs or improve its functionalities. Therefore, we encourage personal projects users to move their personal work to workspaces for better support and functionality.
