Hi all - the Form => Intake request is amazing and I love being able to click the checkmark to reply to the submitter. An issue comes up where we may have to have people in CC, and we were looking at rules using Outlook mail as an external connector. One of the fields in the Send email action is a reply-to field.
What I’d like to do is populate that field with the specific email address that is created for a comment thread which is topic+xxxxxxxxx@mail.asana.com which appends the new reply into the comment history of the task.
Using this combined approach of intake + Outlook connector we could use custom fields to drive CCs and the like people across out org over 100,000 people and have it all come back to the place where the work is being done. The challenge is, I cannot find a way to get that comment thread email address without first sending a reply to an intake and seeing it in the reply-to part of the email that is generated through that process.
Thanks, @Jan-Rienk, for bringing this topic some more attention. Very interesting use case, @Will.S, and cool idea.
Quick answer: no, there’s no way to predict or anticipate that email address. It’s not visibly based on a task ID or project ID.
However, there might be a couple interesting alt ideas here.
For example, here’s a test one I generated just now:
Let’s test something:
Could you provide me your email address? I’ll forward you a test email from one of our Asana accounts. I’d like you to reply to it. I’m fairly sure you’ll get a rejection email because you aren’t in my workspace. However, for a short while last year, I seem to remember the comment would still post (not sure if it was a bug).
If you are comfortable, please email me at bbennett@teamkickstart.com (so you don’t have to share your email publicly) and we can run a quick test.
