Hi Asana. I’d like to have the ability to transfer comments along with description info when converting a task into a project. Currently, this is not supported and the only way to move comments is to copy and paste them into the description - which is both manual and cumbersome. Alternatively, if the original task can stay as a task in the newly-created project, that would be equally helpful.
We use this task as the “Brief” for the work to be done. Multi-homed in a team calendar project for the go-live date, project for working, and other projects as needed.
While task comments aren’t currently transferred when converting a task to a project, there may be a couple of workarounds.
Since subtasks and their associated comments are moved into the newly created project, one option could be to create a dedicated subtask within the parent task and store key discussion points or updates there. When the parent task is converted, that subtask and its comment history would remain available within the new project, helping to preserve important context.
Another potential approach would be an AI-generated summary created as part of the conversion process, capturing the most relevant comments, decisions, and discussion points.
It’s also worth noting that the task description is carried over to the Project Overview during conversion, so any critical information that needs to be preserved should ideally be reflected there before the conversion takes place.
