@Bastien_Siebman We are aware that Asana will notify us when they make a feature like this. The reason we are writing in is because there is a wall of silence on this issue, instead of a timeline to completion after 5 years of asking for relief from what any Asana user would agree is an obvious big friction. There is no reason to have a feature request system if Asana doesn’t intend to respond meaningfully in it. At least, they should explain why it is 1) not a priority, or 2) not within their abilities as techs to deliver.
Finally I have developed a solution, based on userscripts, so it works on browsers. For those interested: A solution for inbox per-project filtering
I’m definitely looking forward to this feature. I would love to have the ability to see the recent activity of each project. This is the closest feature that Asana has that would be very useful for project managers to not be overwhelmed between many activity notification from all projects all at once.
Hello.
Please, have a look at this Chrome Extension: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/inbox-project-filter-for/ofojapmpbcimnighingchnpjldfhjbpm
Thanks Francesco, I tried it but the dropdown didn’t work. I sent a support ticket.
When will I be able to have more options for filtering notifications in Asana’s “inbox”?! We use rule automations and my inbox is cluttered with "Asana moved this task from “To Do” to “Complete” column.
The inbox is unusable with current filtering options and makes me want to move to Clickup and cancel my paid subscription.
We’ve been sharing this feedback for years, but for some odd reason the Asana team doesn’t seem to care to improve the Inbox filters. There are so many great solutions in this post. The last Inbox update was a year and half ago…
It’s been cool seeing Asanas renewed commitment to accessibility. and still, for neurodivergent folks, the context switching needed to manage the inbox without effective filtering is really really challenging. Enough so that I just regularly declare inbox bankruptcy and archive all just to get a clean slate to try and keep up. Without doing hourly checks in the inbox, it is impossible to use effectively with any consistency. If a couple of new projects have just rolled up? FORGET IT. Even a multi select of messages could help in the interim to help get through it. PLEASE HELP!
Hello Emily. Did you try my free Chrome extension?
I feel your pain Emily! I have given up on the Inbox. It’s a total mess and overwhelming to look at it.
@Francesco_Canovi I tried your Chrome Extension but unfortunately It didn’t really help. When I filter results for a specific project, it includes notifications from other projects as well.
Hi @Francesco_Canovi !
I installed your plug-in. However, it only seems to show 1 project, both in Activity and "Archive. What could be wrong?:
I released a new version of the extension with some bugfixes. It’s not in the Chrome store yet, but you can test downloading it from here:
In case the problem persist could you please send me a video?
Not only the inbox, but also the “My Tasks” window.
Hi,
It does not seem to work. I tried with the new 1.1. Same thing.
This is my view when in Inbox Archive tab. I only see very few of the projects in the archive in the dropdown, and choosing them, doesn’t filter anything.
Hello. The extension is supposed to work only in the “activity” tab of the inbox. This is by design. Not easy to make it more “generalized” since it relies on page DOM manipulation due of lack of APIs from Asana to interact with the inbox.
Hi everyone, I’m excited to announce we just rolled out the ability to add multiple filters and create new tabs in your Inbox!
With this option you can now filter inbox activity by project, assigned to me, assigned by me, @ mentioned and read status!
I’ll keep this thread open since we still don’t offer the option to filter by specific teams.
Thanks again for advocating for this feature and please feel free to reach out via the English Forum > Tips and Tricks category if you have any questions!
What is the status of rollout of this feature?
(Unfortunately, it is not available in my organization yet)
