I lost information from a task description — is there a way to get it back?

I got into a flow while writing in a task description in my project on my iphone and wrote out my whole outline but now it is gone. I can’t believe I wouldn’t have hit the “save” button but stranger things have happened. Does Asana on the iPhone not auto-save? Is there a way to get it back? I am new to Asana. Thank you :folded_hands:

Hi @Ajooni_Sethi , sorry to hear hear that!

Did you create a new task on the fly? Or did you write the description in an existing task? If the latter, open the task (on the desktop/browser version), scroll down to All activity and you should find the point where you deleted/overwrote the description. If the former, try searching for the task name, perhaps it got saved as a draft, but likely not if you did not hit the Create button.

Thank you so much, @Richard_Sather . I looked via the desktop version and it seems to not have saved anything from that night. I think I probably wrote it all and never hit save, though I also don’t think I hit cancel. Bummer. But we learn, we live. Appreciate your fast reply and suggestion

Ah, that’s a shame @Ajooni_Sethi . If you start drafting a task on the desktop or browser, they will remain along the bottom of your screen, as a blue box, even if you don’t hit create. Unfortunately, I don’t think the same is available on the mobile app.

It was an already existing task (sorry, forgot to answer your question in my last reply). The weird thing is the change in title saved but the change in description did not. A mystery but a lesson to either use the desktop app or copy paste my intensive flow sessions and save them elsewhere just in case

Ah right! Yes, in the mobile app, you need to tap save whenever you edit the task description field. It does not save the changes on the fly, as it does in the browser/desktop app!

@Ajooni_Sethi, I’m not sure they could help, but consider contacting Support since you have no other options: see How to contact our Support Team.

Thanks,

I got into a great flow while writing a task description for my project on my iPhone and ended up drafting my entire outline, but now it’s gone

Thanks so much to both of you (@Richard_Sather ). I ended up plugging along and completing filming for the project yesterday  Was a good exercise in not getting too attached. Auto save on mobile would be amazing.
