We have a team-wide status field called SMS Status that I rely on to know when work is waiting on my contribution. I would like to be able to group My Tasks by this status field so I can see what’s available for me to traffic to partners, what needs to be edited, what I’m waiting for feedback on, etc. However, I am not assigned to the parent task, just relevant subtasks, and the status field in the subtasks does not automatically update when someone updates the same field in the parent task. Is there a way to make the subtask status match up with the parent task status? I’ve been trying to work with rules to make this happen but I can’t find a condition that examines/edits both parent and subtasks.
Rules can create subtasks, but there doesn’t currently seem to be a way to have them edit fields on subtasks that already exist — so matching the parent’s status to existing subtasks automatically doesn’t seem possible right now, unfortunately.
