How to get a number of tasks from a new project template

Hello,

Does anybody know how to get number of tasks from a new project template?

I mean via API.

Hey Shintaro,

As of right now it doesn’t seem like there is any way to do it. I did raise this question when it came out as well. They said they will likely be adding it, but I do not know how long before they add this feature.

Project Templates are useless if we can’t access their tasks via the API.
We use a project template because all our jobs follow a common set of process.
There can be several months from start to finish and frequency add/fix/evolve the template.
We need the API access to compare that evolving template to existing projects based on it.
This lets us handle new tasks we had not thought of, or check if corrections need to be made.

Well they’re not totally useless to many users, but I’m 1000% with you regarding the inability to perform most API functions with project templates. It’s a huge hole in the API and was a big regression since PT 1.0 were basically just projects and so could be accessed/manipulated in the API just like projects could. It’s a battle I’ve been fighting ever since I first saw PT 2.0 (before they were released) and one I continue to fight to this day.
