How can a collaborator on a task get a TEAMS message sent?

I have some tasks where I have a manager listed as a collaborator in order to receive notifications when those tasks are completed by the task assignee. We get e-mails when the task is complete, but we’re not getting a TEAMS message. We have linked TEAMS to Asana, and do get TEAMS messages on other items.

Hello @Chantelle_Drury - Would mind attaching a screenshot of the rule you are using in order to send a channel message to Teams when a task is completed?

We don’t use channel messages. we get teams messages on other tasks where the assignee is notified once a task is unblocked. But I want a message to be delivered to someone listed as a collaborator. So a direct teams message to an individual. not a channel.

I was able to test a few things out and there currently is not an option to select from the list of collaborators to specify as the recipient of the Teams message. I will note this down for our product team and submit it on your behalf.

Thank you!

So I did find a way to set up a rule to send a direct message, but asana sends the message directly from me to the receiver in TEAMS instead of it just going to them from asana, which is weird. But also this whole exercise is now moot because It appears I can’t add this rule to a template?

That is correct - app integrations do not get saved to templates. As a workaround for templates and app integration connection and rules. We have built out “set up step” tasks within a template to have instructions on how to set up the integration and rule.

What do you mean by “set up step”? How do I do that?

We would usually create a task that lives at the top of the project that is called “set up steps” - this would include information for additional set up after the project has been created.

What is a “set up step”, and how would I incorporate that to achieve what I’m trying to do?

Set up steps are additional steps after the project has been created. This can look like a task that holds information/instructions to setup an integration or a specific rule.
