Help! Need to Convert Organization Back to Workspace!

Hello Asana Community!

So, I made a boo boo, I think. Our non-profit group is still trying out Asana, and while we are still debating on switching from personal email addresses to a domain email address, I converted our workspace into an organization prematurely before all other items are in place. Really need to have our group as a workspace for now until our accounts are set in place. How can I convert my organization back into a workspace? This is inadvertenty urgent!

Thanks for posting in the community. We don’t normally recommend to switch from Organizations to Workspaces, but if you submit a request at Asana Support - Help Center • Asana, our support specialists can help you get on the right account type for your team.

Hi @Meir_Cabaltera!

As @Kaitie mentioned we usually don’t recommend reverting from Organizations to Workspaces. That said, if you really need to revert back, here is how you can do it:

• Create a brand new Workspace (Workspace basics | Product guide • Asana Product Guide) and rename it with your old Workspace’s name.
• Use Kothar (Organise Asana Projects — Kothar Labs), to move your data from the Organization you created by mistake, to your new Workspace.
• Once you’ve moved all your data into the new workspace, delete all your Organization’s data. I have attached a few links you might find helpful:

  How to Create, Join, and Manage teams in Asana | Product guide • Asana Product Guide (deleting a Team deletes all project within the team, it moight save you some time!)
• You can then contact support (Asana Support - Help Center • Asana) to remove your Organization’s domain from the Organization. It will essentially delete the Organization from Asana
