Feature Request: Easy Key Resource References in Asana

Hello Asana experts,

I have a suggestion about referencing key resources in Asana. Is there a way we can add this feature so we can easily link the Key Resources (files) in descriptions or comments for tasks, milestones, projects, updates, etc.?

Here’s why I’m asking:

  1. Some tasks need a key resource as input (file).
  2. Some tasks result in creating or modifying documents (outcome).
  3. I want to reference these key resources (files) in other tasks without uploading them multiple times.
  4. The current system of mentioning tasks to avoid uploading the same or updated document multiple times or using the files section to look for a document shared before is confusing and time-consuming because there is not a way we can organize the files section of the project.

My suggestions:

  1. Add a feature to reference key resources directly, like we do with tasks, people, and projects, etc.
  2. Allow us to send task outcomes (like documents) to the key resources section.
  • When sending a document to key resources, we may do control questions and ask:
    1. Is this a key resource?
    2. Is this an update to an existing key resource?

These changes would make it easier to organize and find important documents in Asana.

Thank you for considering my ideas!

Hello @Victor_Velazquez1 - I am going to move your topic into our English Forum > Product Feedback section!

@Victor_Velazquez1,

Until/if Asana implements all the changes you’re asking for, the workaround many of my clients use would allow to achieve much of what you’re asking for, albeit not in the exact same way you’re requesting. It uses a section, tasks, and optionally subtasks and looks like this:

Use the descriptions of the tasks/subtasks for your links and @mentions.

Thanks,

Larry

It is a good provisional solution.
I will try it. Thank you
