# Enable access to Workload & Capacity Planning data through the Asana API

We’re heavy users of the Workload and Capacity Planning features within Asana’s Portfolio view and rely on them to manage team resources and strategic planning. However, this data is currently **not available through the public API** , which limits our ability to:

- Automate resource dashboards across tools
- Integrate capacity planning into reporting systems
- Build custom alerts for overbooked or underutilized team members
- Run long-term forecasting or team planning outside of the Asana UI

### Why this matters

Many teams use **custom workflows** and rely on **external systems (BI tools, automation frameworks, OKR platforms)** to complement Asana. Without access to workload/capacity data, we’re forced to manually recreate or maintain duplicate planning structures.

### Requested functionality

- Access each user’s **weekly capacity allocation** (hours/points)
- Retrieve **assigned workload per user per time period**
- Pull Workload-related custom fields or metadata linked to tasks across a date range
- Optional: Filter and group workload data by portfolios, projects, or tags

This addition would greatly increase the power and flexibility of the Asana ecosystem and enable many teams to **scale planning with precision**.
