Duplicating Tasks

Is there a way to add template or existing project tasks to other projects without inheriting any of the members?

@anon17877043, Multi-homing a task to another project (How to Complete Task Fields in Asana | Product Guide • Asana Product Guide) will make the task appear in multiple projects (so the task collaborators will be the same as they were) but will not add the project’s members in any way.

Hope that helps,

Larry

Thanks Larry - I looked at this and was concerned about “This will not duplicate the task - if you complete the task in one project, it will be completed in all projects it is associated with.”

I need to disassociate the task from other projects and members, basically copy/paste.

@anon17877043, Ok, in that case you’d want to use Duplicate Task (Task actions: create, move, duplicate, and more | Product guide • Asana Product Guide) and choose the best set of checkboxes for your need in the Duplicate Task dialog. It will create a duplicate as you specify; it won’t alter the member of the destination project. Note that you’ll have to likely uncheck the Projects checkbox and then after the duplicate is created, change it’s project member from the old to the new project.
