Trying to trigger a single select field choice based on due date proximity. For example, if due date is more than x days out, set custom field y to choice z.
Is this only possible with Flowsana? If so, I don’t recall even seeing a “greater than” condition there, only a “within x days” condition.
Kind of frustrated over what seems to be a simple construct. Base stuff in a couple competitors. Can’t imagine I can’t get there with both Asana and Flowsana unless I’m missing something?
To answer, I think we need to know more context: What is the triggering event for you? Is it that the Due date field has been changed? When a task is added to the project? Or just once per day after midnight as the trigger to evaluate the Due date?
All three will come into play. I have a “due date risk” single select. Choices are date in past = “overdue”, due date within x days = “at risk” and due date is empty = “no due date” . I’ve got all those. The one stumping me is "due date is at least/more than x days out = “on time”.
That’s a lot of logic that I don’t think I have time to suss out to give a conclusive answer, but my guess would be you wouldn’t be able to satisfy all three triggers fully natively in Asana. I’d leave the Flowsana case to @Phil_Seeman.
Yes, I nailed the 3 with Flowsana in about 15 minutes after I figured out their rule builder UI. First time I used the app. I actually purchased it to utilize a duration field (for imports) in an upcoming project (if someone can explain why Asana has no fully functional duration field, I’m all ears). I realize Asana’s genesis wasn’t “real” project management, but Project start date then “task/duration/dependancies” is your 80/20 rule for darn near every spin up…
Understood. To my knowledge the duration field is not exposed in List or Board views, correct? (reason I wrote “fully functional” above). I would really like to be mistaken!
