Disappointed in paid version


My team started paying for Asana 3 or 4 months ago after being very happy with it for over a year. To be honest, I’m extremely disappointed in the additional functionality of the paid version. Granted, some of this disappointment probably comes from my own ignorance of available features I just don’t understand/am not aware of.

Additionally, I gather my team uses Asana slightly different than the norm, the standard Projects becomes our Clients, the standard Task become Client Tasks. We don’t use subtasks because they are an awkward pain.

In updating to the paid version I was hoping for some of the functionality listed below:

  1. tiered custom fields - choose A or B, if A then choose 1 or 2, if B then 3 or 4

  2. custom fields with 2 or more column entries - F1=print ad, F1a=1/4page, F1b=$125

  3. custom fields templates - date, phone number, zip code, entry formatting

  4. column exclusion on csv export - I only need description & custom field

  5. ifttt & zapier - I need to know when any task in ANY project is closed, not just by project - because we’re always adding a deleting projects.

  6. if I can’t delete the pre-built “tasks I’ve assigned to others” at least let me keep my filter choices!

    • sign by reports so I can create a new one. also, can I make my homepage a report?
  7. export report to “Open Report in Google Sheets”

  8. alert on any task I create that passes deadline!

  9. check-able To Do lists under a task - subtasks suck!

  10. grouped subtasks

  11. auto hide completed subtasks

  12. view both “my tasks” and “tasks I created/assigned” on the same page - this is a BIGGY. I create tasks and assign them to people, then I kinda forget about them, then that jerk misses the deadline and I don’t notice. I need to see tasks I create and assign to others in a dedicated column with maybe a green/yellow/red indicator on the deadline.

  13. I would also like a “team member touched” field in the export so that if a task has bounced around to 4 team members I can know who worked on it along the way, not just who opened and closed it.

  14. I would like a notice in the task feed when a file/attachment is uploaded or deleted and by whom.

This all may be possible or in the works. As you can tell, I’m also trying to use custom fields to handle some minutia of billing via csv export - this is what I used to justify the paid version to our team and thus far it isn’t making anyone’s life easier.

For everything else, I would recommend creating one post for each feature request, so other people can vote for it.
