I would also like to add a vote to add some sort of visual differentiator for Milestones beyond just the diamond. Either the ability to make it a different color, bold, slight outdent…something. This would be very helpful in task lists for us to be able to have a visual cue when scanning milestones vs. tasks.

+1 for this feature. Would be especially helpful for our read-only links we share with clients that only show milestones/deliverables.
Sadly after nearly 5 years no improvement here 
We have switched to monitor milestones (as it is only way to get some reasonable stats via project dashboard) only via timeline just to see that the whole view is now cluttered with milestone reference lines with no option to colour milestones as it is possible in case of tasks. Any chance Asana will fix it? How many votes will do the job?
