Desktop App Refresh Behavior

Positive Feedback
I really appreciate the reminder email Asana sends when I’ve started but not submitted a comment on a task. It struck me as a thoughtful and user-centric feature that has already prevented a few accidental omissions.

Constructive Feedback
One ongoing issue I’ve encountered with the Asana desktop app is the frequency with which it forces a refresh. When I switch back to Asana after it has been idle, I often have to wait while the app reloads, and I’m also prompted to refresh for updates more often than expected.

I understand this may be related to the desktop app being a wrapper around the web interface, but the result is that it doesn’t behave as seamlessly as other business applications. Tools like Excel, Word, Outlook, or text editors typically return instantly to the exact cursor position or view state where I left them, without reloading or interrupting workflow. Reducing the refresh frequency or improving state preservation would make the app feel significantly more stable and user-friendly.

Side Note on attachment UX
In Microsoft Teams I’m used to clicking a “+” icon to attach files. I’ve gotten so used to it that in Asana, which I use less often, I find myself clicking “+” and then the escape key when I realize that I need to click the paper clip icon instead. Maybe it would be better to move “add attachment” to “+”.
