Dependency update option no longer available?

We use task templates with dependencies for some key recurring work, and rely on the ability to shift all subtask due dates based on dependencies. Today my team has noticed that this option is no longer available.

Anyone else seeing this? This feature saves us a LOT of time and makes it much easier for us to plan out upcoming work, so not having it is pretty frustrating.

Hello @Brian_Fewell
Are you saying you are unable to add dependencies to the template itself?

I just tried and it is still there

No, we can still add dependencies.

But there used to be a button in the date picker on tasks with dependencies, where we could use shift the date of one task and the dates for all dependent tasks would shift appropriately.

One way we use this is for routine emails, with subtasks for the steps in drafting, building, and reviewing the mailing. We can create these, then move the main task to the target send date, and the dates for the subtasks shift to fit the timeframe for the work.

That button (labeled “Preview”) is no longer available. Instead, there’s just a message about the dependency management settings for the project.

The functionality itself appears to be entirely gone? It used to be that in the timeline view these shifts could also be made, but that no longer works either.

This is insane to me, and destroys one of the most fundamental aspects of Asana that we rely on.

UPDATE:
I see that the dependency management options do work—but only for TASKS, not SUBTASKS.

The way we have this set up, we absolutely NEED this to function for subtasks as well.
