@Marie @Emily_Roman is there any plan to add this feature? I want to my team to group tasks by project phase but employees are missing work due to the lack of visibility of subtasks.

It would be great to get this applicable to Milestones as well. I know Milestones and Tasks can have their own nuances at times, but if this feature does come along, please make it applicable across the board.

Adding my voice to add this feature it would be extremely helpful.
This is a key feature that dictates how /if we use sub tasks. I see that the users have been asking for it for a long long time - whats the plan to rolling this out? Is it on the roadmap at all?
5 years later and folks are still asking for this. This would be a huge tedium reducer! Is this on the roadmap at all?

Asana doesn’t communicate on the roadmap (much), so we don’t know. But there are definitely listening to feedback, so this might be in the making!

It is always taken into account, but then Asana has to prioritise with everything else happening. We know they are always discussing subtasks and finding ways to improve their usage

Adding a heavy +1 here! We run complex software implementation projects and have a strong use of subtasks for handoffs between team members that are working on the same overarching user story (e.g. one person designing, another building, another testing). But it’s reeeeally hard to see subtasks in any of the views (List, Timeline, etc.) without going through and manually expanding. it would save a ton of time to be able to default any of the views to expanded and seeing all subtasks!!

Adding another request for the option to have the subtask listed expanded by default in all tasks in board view (five years after this thread was created lol). This is an option in MS Planner but I haven’t found it in any other kanban board app, but it’s essential! It’s such a waste of time having to click to expand each list every time I open Asana. Plus it means I miss things if the to do lists aren’t expanded all the time. Please add this basic feature!

Granted this thread has become home to multiple requests, we shipped the ability to expand or collapse subtasks, and subsequently save the state in that view late last year. @Emily_Roman flagging you for your review!
As a preview, in our subtask roadmap we’ve continued investment and are well into working on the next phase… get ready for the ability to see an expanded subtask hierarchy within your List view
