Clicked on unmarked feature - locked out of project. Is this intentional?

I am a engineering student interested in project management and Asana was suggested by an PM friend.
My trial had already ended (bottom left nag said so) but today I spent a few hours setting up a half dozen tasks for my Degree Project group. I clicked on an unmarked feature that locked my project a couple hours later. When I tried to unclick the feature I was sent to a pay page.

I’ve already found a way around the lockdown, but if there is no way for me to legitimately retrieve my work then this was clearly a ransom trap attempt; unmarked button, must pay money to get your work back.

Honestly? we will probably stick around even if we don’t trust Asana, but:
Is this actually what they are like, or am I looking at it wrong?

Oh it wasn’t just the one feature, Dependencies is also a paid feature!
Awww that sucks, so I can’t set up dependencies - which I’m pretty sure is important. I could spend the money, but this is just a student project, that’ll be half our budget.

Disregard the previous, no longer relevant, I would be embarrassed to tell possible employers that I organized a project, but did not track dependencies.
