Hi all. I want to clean up and reorganize the teams within our Asana instance. What are the repercussions of deleting teams related to tasks and projects within those teams? Are the teams simply a grouping of users? Are tasks and projects associated with teams? Much appreciated.
Welcome, @Jennifer_Mastrapasqu,
These questions cover a lot of ground.
Could you go to help.asana.com and read about Teams there for background?
Some answers to your specific questions:
Don’t delete teams until you understand the repercussions.
Teams are generally groups of Asana members/guests in your Asana organization. They make it easier to manage access rights to projects. They are also used elsewhere, for example you can have Goals for a team (and org-wide goals). Teams also have a teams page where you can curate work, see a calendar view of all projects in the team, etc.
Projects can be in teams. Tasks are in projects; they are not directly in teams.
If you delete a team you may 1) delete projects in the team, and 2) cause people to lose access to projects.
Thanks,
Larry
