Wow first contact with Asana, also tried to find how to change my color, and found this 3 years old thread instead which doesn’t make me want to go any further with your product. Sorry guys.

Hi, I am a big fan of Asana and have been for years. It is such a great product that I can’t understand why I can’t change or at least specify during the creation the color of a user. I have 5 members in my projects and 3 of them have the same color. It is really hard to get a glimpse of who is in charge of each task.
It has been nearly 3 years this thread is alive, how come? It would be such an improvement!

Am I missing something somewhere or is this still not resolved or even responded to by an Asana rep? I sure hope I’m missing it – it is a functionality that should have been a given years ago.

Our team would also like this implemented. In the meantime, we’ll use the work-around and ask our same colored members upload an image to their profile instead.

I would expect that such a simple & beneficial update shouldn’t take so long to implement.
Adding picture profiles, doesn’t substitute color coding with initials, given that our workers work remotely.

You are logged in as yourself. The emoji color should set when selected once, not every time.

Would be very nice to have this feature added.
I don’t like the idea of having users change to profile photos because then we lose the initials for the users listed in the Collaborators section. The icons are too small to distinguish users by their photo. Initials/different colors is a much better system.

Brining this up in 2024 - we’re all pink on my team and it’s driving me crazy. I’m not in control of mandating profile pictures and I also find it more difficult to connect a picture to a task as opposed to initals.

Could anyone from Asana please clarify why this has not yet been implemented after 7 years of requests? A lot of people don’t feel comfortable using a personal profile photo so initials keep everyone happy. I also noticed that you can change your profile background to a range of colours but not your icon? Seems a simple fix and have yet to see a reason why this has not happened. Pretty poor form from you guys with hardly any responses on multiple threads relating to this issue

Any feedback yet on this? I wouldn’t mind the auto-generated colors so much if there wasn’t a greater than 50/50 chance of users being assigned pink. I don’t care that it’s pink, it is hard to use the application and track who’s doing what with a glance when so many team members are pink.
Please address soon. Less unicorns, more color selection.

Has this issue been addressed yet?
We are still continuing to struggle with this same issue. We work with a smaller team yet the company director and half of the floor staff all share the same colour. The few that have added photos (in many’s opinion) haven’t made it easier to see who is who as clearly as the coloured initials. From a lay-person’s perspective, this just seems like a simple fix…?
