Can't unhide Assignee column

I hid the assignee column but it won’t stay unhidden when I toggle it ‘on’ in the Hide submenu.

Please help!

I don’t want to create a custom field for assignee when it already exists. I know this was covered in this post earlier.

Did you save the new layout as default? Like what I mean once you toggled it on, then click “Save layout as default” and then refresh the page.
