I’d love to see the ability to select a various number of notifications from my inbox to be able to archive! As a traffic manager, I am a collaborator on A TON of tasks because of being auto-assigned on project templates, but this tends to clog up my inbox when a bunch of new projects are added. I’d love to be able to select, say up to 50, notifications to archive at once vs having to do then ALL individually. THANKS!

Hi @Maranda_Walker, welcome to the Asana Community Forum 👋

While this feature isn’t available right now, hopefully it’s something our Product team can implement in the future.

I’ll keep you posted and let you know if we have any updates 🙂

@Rebecca_McGrath , please keep me in the loop. I am looking for the same option right now. Thank you.

Asana Inbox has become totally useless for me. There are a ton of notifications that I didn’t realize were even there. It would take days to archive all of them. I need a bulk select to get the job done.

This is one of many ways that Asana makes their product harder to use than it should be.

_ **Note: Not a solution but marked as such to elevate a key reply** _

In case anyone wasn’t aware, there’s at least a way to bulk-select **every** notification and archive it in a second (and achieve Inbox Zero the easy way!):

Once you do that, you can click the Archive tab and individually move chosen notification back to the Active tab if desired.

Hi! This has been submitted before, but adding in a vote for adding the option to archive multiple items in the inbox in one go. Not quite “archive all”, but when you have four updates you want to archive. This would be a huge help to our small team! Thank you!

Hi @Whitney14 you should be able to multi-select items in my inbox and archive them all in one go by clicking the ticks on the left to select (will appear when you hover over the assignee), and then archiving selection. Does this solve your query?

@Whitney14, In the Asana browser version, although it’s not very discoverable, you can click an Inbox notification, then Shift-Click another one to multi-select all those in the range. You’ll see a multi-select footer where you can take the actions you ask for. You can also Cmd/Ctrl Click for discontiguous selections. This operates like other Asana views.

@Rebecca_Hassett, are you maybe describing the Asana app, and is it different than the above? I’m not seeing any ticks to click, and don’t understand your mention of “hover over the assignee”.

Also, I’ve merged this topicinto an existing one; votes are merged.

Thanks,

Larry

[@Forum-team](https://forum.asana.com/groups/forum-team), I believe this can be marked as #launched although I couldn’t find it documented in Help.

Also, can you let me know if it works the same as I describe above in the Desktop version? In that case, perhaps this other topic can be merged into this one and show as launched too.

Yes, this is in the App that I can just click what I need to and archive

Thanks, @Rebecca_Hassett.

So, [@Forum-team](https://forum.asana.com/groups/forum-team), the UI is different for the Inbox in the browser vs web app, but in both cases the feature is launched, so please consider marking #launched and merging the other thread as I suggested earlier, if you concur.

Thanks,

**What I’d like**

In the Inbox, I’d like to click the checkbox on one notification, scroll down, then hold **Shift** and click another notification’s checkbox — and have everything between the two get selected in one go. From there I could archive the whole range with a single action.

This is standard “range selection” behaviour: Gmail, Outlook, Windows File Explorer, macOS Finder, Jira, and basically every desktop-oriented app implement it. Right now Asana only supports selecting notifications one at a time.

**Why it matters**

My Inbox regularly fills with long, uninterrupted runs of notifications that are irrelevant to me — status pings on projects I only loosely follow, and similar noise. These often arrive in batches, so they’re almost always _contiguous_ in the list, which is exactly the case range selection is designed for. Clearing 30 of them currently means 30 individual clicks.

**The current workaround, and why it’s not great**

I can check the group header (e.g. “Past 7 days”) to select everything, then uncheck the handful I actually want to keep. That works, but it’s backwards: it’s more clicking, it’s error-prone. If I miss unchecking a notification and open it accidentally then ALL of the checked notifications get unchecked again.

**What I’m asking for specifically**

- Click a notification’s checkbox to anchor the selection
- Shift + click any other notification’s checkbox to select the full range between the anchor and that item
- Bulk-archive the resulting selection
- Ideally also Ctrl/Cmd + click to add or remove individual items from the selection

This is a small quality-of-life change, but for anyone with a busy Inbox it’s the difference between a two-second cleanup and a minute of repetitive clicking. Has anyone else run into this, or is there a keyboard shortcut I’ve missed?

Thanks - I went through those. I agree with the philosophy, and I’ve since cleaned up my project notification settings, which helped.

But I’d say notification hygiene and range selection answer different questions. Even a well-tuned Inbox produces contiguous runs of low-value notifications - ones you want to glance at and dismiss, not unsubscribe from. That’s exactly what shift-click handles.

The current bulk option makes the case stronger: as noted in the “Archive all” thread, notifications older than 7 days get deleted rather than archived. So “select the group, uncheck the keepers” is a partly destructive operation. Range selection would let me clear a specific block without touching the group control.

Thank you @Larry_Berger_lpb 🙏🏻

Hi everyone, I’m marking this request as **Launched**.

Asana Inbox now supports range selection for notifications **in compact view**. You can select one notification, then **Shift + click** another notification to select the range between them, and archive the selected notifications together.

This should help users clear batches of Inbox notifications much faster, without needing to archive each one individually.

If you’re not seeing this option, try switching Inbox to **compact view** and refreshing Asana.

Thanks again for the feedback!

Thanks very much, @Irish_Makimura. And thanks for mentioning Compact View and that makes much more sense in explaining the different UIs I was trying to reconcile. I only use Density: Detailed so Compact was not at all on my radar until you mentioned it!
