To confirm, would this work for tasks generated by the creation of a project from a project template, or only tasks added to the project after the initial project has been created from the template?
At the moment, itās this. There is for sure a need for the other use case, and we have a Flowsana product feedback item for it that you can add your vote to!
How can I add the āproject nameā additionally to the initial task name when generating a new project from a Project Template?
When tasks are multi-homed or assigned to members who do not have access to the whole project, they only see the task description. I would like the project name to autopopulate in the task name after the task. I know this is a huge ask, but this would be super beneficial for our Asana Network.
I have attempted to create a field; Iām facing the same pain points.
I know you can simply add the project name to every task when creating a project from a template, but it loses the time you just attempted to save.
So Iām reaching out to the Asana Wizards out there in the ether!!! HALP!

Hi @Winston_Secrest,
I merged your post with an existing request for this feature. Be sure to vote for it at the top of the thread.
Thank you Phil. I will have team ambassadors like at the top.
Voted. I would also like to be able to automatically include the date to task titles when creating a project from a template. I have a template that I use once a month and the tasks are often multi-homed into several other projects and assigned to folks on other teams, so including the date would help them keep track.
We typically have close to 100 tasks as part of launching a new product (weāre a furniture company) and tens of coworkers who are assigned to tasks within the new launch project. It can be hard for team members to see which product their task is associated with unless they have access to the parent project, which we donāt always offer since we donāt want anyone moving things they shouldnāt.
But we also donāt want to have to manually add the name of the product to the 100+ tasks each time we build or duplicate a project and we launch close to a hundred projects a year. It would be great if we could add a āpreheaderā when we make new projects from a template so that it automatically adds whatever we specify as the preheader to every single task in the project. Wrike had this feature, and they even offered it when duplicating old tasks which was very helpful.
Welcome, @Eliza_McGowen,
Iāve merged your post into an existing topic where you can click the title to scroll to the top and vote by clicking the Vote button at the top-left.
I think youāll find some workarounds in there, but brieflyā¦
You could give others View or Comment only access to the parent projects so that others could see context but not risk their modifying anything, and having to look at the same repeated text at the start of every task name. I turn on the Projects column in list view to see the taskās project without having to even open the task detail pane.
Thanks,
Larry
