Automatic color codes gone in board view in My tasks?

I used to have in the board view of My Tasks, all of my tasks marked with a color tag (just a line of color), which was allocated automatically based on the project to which the task belonged to. Since last week we’ve noticed that those colors are gone in the board view, which is very annoying when you have many tasks and you want to quickly look for a certain task.

The calendar view still has the color tags, so I was wondering if this is a bug or an update?

Hi @Femke_Coppens , and welcome to the Forum!

Asana is indeed undergoing many changes lately, including several redesigns. Thank you for the feedback on your Boards view experience! It’s very helpful and valuable, and I have forwarded it to the design team for consideration.
The design, including a line of colour matching a project, unfortunately, did not mark tasks multihomed into several places very well. Currently, you should be able to see the colour tile and the name of the project each task belongs to, including instances of multihomed tasks, as depicted below.

You can post your suggestion to bring back the old layout in theproduct feedback section of the Forum, to allow other users to support and upvote your suggestion.

I hope this helps!

Hi @Joanna_Colgan thanks for your explanation, it helps to see your print screen. The problem with my tasks I think, is that a lot of my tasks are subtasks, and maybe that’s why they don’t have a colour tile and the name of the project. Can you confirm? If so, I will add a suggestion in the product feedback section.

Kind regards!

You are correct, @Femke_Coppens . In Asana, Subtasks are linked to the parent tasks, but do not have a direct link to the project in which the parent task resides.

You can link subtasks directly to a project, which might help showing you the tasks in the format you desire, but in such instance, the subtasks will be simultaneously tasks and subtasks in the project’s view, which might lead to some confusion.

I also noticed (interestingly)that subtasks displayed in the list view do include the project the parent task is a part of in the Project column, and I highlighted this also in my feedback to the Product team.

Again, I’d encourage you to post in the feedback section of the Forum, which can encourage other users to add to the topic, perhaps even suggest workarounds!
