Auto Populate Custom Fields with a number using Rules

Hello Asana friends! I would like to set a rule in a project that goes a little like this:

Trigger: When a task is added to a project
Action: A custom field which is a number is auto-populated with 1.5 as the time.

I have found I can do this with a drop down but in doing so I sacrifice the ability to see a SUM of the tasks in the project. Is there a way to do this already or would this need to be built out?

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on this topic!

Many Thanks!
Stephanie

Happy Wednesday @StephanieC and thank you for reaching out!

Great question! As it stands, the sum feature is only available for numerical fields. And these type of fields are currently not included when setting a Rule.
We have a thread in the #productfeedback category regarding this topic. In case you haven’t yet, I encourage you to cast your vote in this request: Rules set Custom Fields with Text or Numbers

In the meantime, I would suggest you to have a look at the Integration Flowsana who allows you to use all types of Custom Fields when setting a Rule.

I hope this helps Stephanie! Please let me know if you have any follow-up question!
