Assign multiple assignees on one task

Please.

It’s a simple idea. Allow me to decide my project management philosophy. Sometimes this is needed.

Alternatively, keep the main assignee, but allow to add secondary assignees or observers. The key is to make the task show up on that user’s “My tasks” view so they’re aware of it.

@Convincible - I’ve moved your post to the existing thread on this. Make sure you use the vote button near the title to lend your support.

We are running into the same issue. I have yet to see another project management tool that does not allow to assign more than 1 assignee to a simple task, without subtask shenanigans. Because sometimes you pair. Sometimes you mob. Sometimes multiple people work on the exact same task.

This thread is open since 2017 and has 782 responses, how Asana does not find this a good thing to add is beyond me. Sounds like Asana is something to replace with a more up to date tool.

Its a shame that you’re forcing me your philosophy that I’m not agreeing with as a customer instead of just allowing your customers to work as they want.

It’s really painful to wait for this feature to be implemented, isn’t it?

Instead, what do you think of my idea?

  • Create a My Project for each staff member. Staff 1’s My Project, Staff 2’s My Project, Staff 3’s My Project, etc.
  • Multi-home tasks that need to be assigned to multiple staff members to the “My Projects of the desired staff member.” In this case, set the task assignee to the project leader.
  • Each staff member can process their own work by looking at their own My Project.
  • I think it would be easier to manage if all staff members’ My Projects were registered in a My Projects portfolio.

Upvoted - creating on task for each allocated person is very onerous and over inflates the number of “true” tasks that needs completing.

Adding to to this thread with my use case - We collaboratively review documents and have multiple people who collaborate on a task. We all need to work on the review and have it completed by a date. It is also a different set of people on each review and I need to know if it is SME1 or SME2 and who has done their review. Yes, of course, we could have all our own individual tasks but then to see who is working on the task I have to navigate up the chain, assuming that these were connected to a parent task. It would be a simple fix if collaborators could have those tasks listed in My Tasks. Yes, again - I could run a report but the point of My Tasks is to have a central location for the tasks I am working on. I can easily envision custom fields within the task: SME 1, Complete, SME2, Complete, SME 3 complete. Then I could see who is working the task and who has finished their review. The project lead can then mark the task complete when everyone is done. No duplicating tasks, no wandering up and down parent/child relationships. One task, with one assignee responsible for making sure the task is complete on time but all the collaborators can see that they had a task assigned. The project lead doesn’t need to create multiple duplicate tasks for each review.

Would be incredibly helpful to be able to add multiple people to a single task rather than creating many tasks and assigning people individually!

How can this NOT be implemented after 9 years and 2384 votes from first request in 2017 ???
