Asana's Personal Impact

I’m not sure where to turn for help.
Do you have any advice for the following situations?

  • I create a task and then forget about it. For example, after forwarding an email to Asana, I forget to reply to the original email.

  • I can’t think of anything that’s not on the project’s task list. (I used to think I could imagine it independently (isn’t this and that necessary?).) Recently, in a project with a set duration (starting in April and ending in December, for example), I neglected to perform a task that was essential, which caused problems within the organization. The project’s task list listed all major tasks. However, the task I forgot this time was something that should be done (locking the door when leaving the house), and I didn’t think about registering it as a task, so I didn’t register it on the task list.

  • Even if it’s on the task list, I forget tasks that are well past their due date (more than a week). I tend to focus on the task at hand.

Hi @ka_nishiyama

  1. You forward email to Asana → forget to reply to original email - create a personal project and fwd (or multihome) the task on that project - create rule task is added - set due date today, assign it to you and add comment - Reply

  2. You can create subtask checklist for something that is not as major as task

  3. Instead of relying on overdue lists, create:

A “Today” saved search or dashboard
    Criteria:

    • Assigned to me

    • Due today OR overdue

    • Not completed

    Review it at fixed times

Hello @ka_nishiyama ,

Are you working from your My Tasks/Inbox in Asana? If not, I would definitely recommend making a habit of visiting your My Tasks more regularly. We have a live training dedicated to making the most out of My Tasks called Personal Productivity in Asana. If you haven’t already - definitely check it out!
Alternatively, have a look at this article.

I agree with all suggestions from @Bhumika_Bihani .
What I also like to do is use rules in My tasks to add comments to overdue tasks, @ mentioning myself, to make sure that I get Inbox notifications about those. I also use my Home page and a widget showing me my overdue tasks.
Creating dependencies can also be helpful if the completion of a task is a make-or-break for another piece of work.
Checking your Inbox and My Tasks should be the first thing to do in the morning and the last thing before wrapping up for the day, giving you a clear picture of what has been accomplished and what is outstanding.
I’m sure you can find something that resonates with your style of work in our Productivity resources page.

Hi @Bhumika_Bihani @Joanna_Colgan

Thank you for your valuable advice.
Based on the idea you provided, I’m currently experimenting with custom fields and rules within My Tasks.
If it works well, I’ll submit it here.
