If you use built-in video recording in Asana (Vimeo integration) , I would be very careful. Apparently there’s a bug in (at least) my system: when I record any video, even on a private task for myself, it gets shared with everyone else at my Asana organization too, who has turned on this Vimeo integration as well. (It goes to a now newly automatically created “Shared Team Folder” in Vimeo that I have no control over for sharing, and Vimeo sends an email out to everyone on the folder, who I assume is everyone in my Asana organization who has enabled the integration, since my contractor notified me of the issue).
There is nothing I can do to even see who has access to the Vimeo folder - as I am just an editor on this automatically created folder in Vimeo. To be clear, this folder and/or email notification to other users appears to be new in Vimeo. I’ve been using the video feature for over a year and never had any issues.
It’s extremely concerining to pay for an Advanced Plan and get NO RESPONSE whatsoever from their support on an issue like this for 6 days now.
I recommend doing a test for yourself and seeing if it affects you too. This would help me to know as well - as support has been ghosting me for almost a week now, despite how serious this issue is.
Hi @Bobby_McGivney, thanks for reaching out, and I’m sorry for the frustration this has caused!
I connected with our support team and can see they’ve already been in touch with you via email. While I don’t have the tools here in the forum to review or resolve the issue directly, I want to reassure you that your question has been escalated for further investigation. Our support team is actively looking into it and will follow up with an update as soon as possible.
In the meantime, if there’s anything else I can do to support you, please don’t hesitate to let me know!
Thanks for escalating however I am sorely disappointed to report that there still has been zero resolution to this problem since then - so it’s been 2.5 weeks on something I would argue as an absolute high priority, given the severity of the issue. I’ve even asked if support can at least give me some sort of feedback in the meantime while they figure out the bug by asking a simple question- “who has access to my videos?” and even this question hasn’t been answered in 4 days. This is completely unacceptable.
Hi @Bobby_McGivney, we appreciate you bringing this technical concern regarding the Vimeo integration to our attention. I can assure you our team has been investigating the issue, as our support team has mentioned in separate emails with you. The Asana-Vimeo integration has both Asana and Vimeo-controlled components, and it appears the behavior you’re describing stems from settings controlled by Vimeo. We are reaching out to Vimeo to get more information, and we recommend that your Vimeo admin reach out to Vimeo directly. As to the specific question of who might have access to your videos, only Vimeo can answer that question for you. Vimeo controls the core video recording and storage functionality — the Asana platform simply surfaces the capture and viewing functionality on tasks within Asana.
Let me know if you have any other questions, I’ll be happy to assist.
