# API News 2022-W33

Hey folks,

Sasha, from the Asana API Team here, back with your weekly update for 2022-W33.

There is one major update I have for you this week, related to _New Project  
Templates_ (aka, `PT2`), as a [question came up last week](https://forum.asana.com/t/api-news-2022-w32/190191/4). The  
original timeline for this was deprecation by end of August. However, we’re  
going to adjust the timeline because our communications could have been clearer  
and there appears to be confusion. The key change is that deprecation is being  
delayed by one month to September. Additionally, the API will transition to  
“opt-out” starting next week. Details below.

Please let us know if you think this deprecation timeline will impact you  
(`is_template` being removed by end of August).

## [New Project Templates](https://forum.asana.com/t/a-new-api-for-project-templates/156432)

- current status (Aug 16): opt-in  
(`Project` resources still include the `is_template` field, but  
your API client can include a `Asana-Enable: new_project_templates` header to  
receive the new resource treatment)
- next change (Aug 24): opt-out  
(`Project` resources will no longer include the `is_template` field by  
default, but your API client can include a  
`Asana-Disable: new_project_templates` header to temporarily revert to the old  
treatment)
- final change (Sep 24): deprecation complete  
(`Project` resources will no longer include the `is_template` field, and there  
will no longer be a way to revert to the old treatment)

who this applies to: users of [`/projects` or the `Projects` resource](https://developers.asana.com/docs/projects)  
that also work with `project_templates`

## [New HTML Tags in Task Descriptions](https://forum.asana.com/t/changes-are-coming-to-rich-text-html-notes-and-html-text-in-asana/113434)

status: launching soon

who this applies to: users of [`/tasks*` or the `Tasks` resource](https://developers.asana.com/docs/tasks) that  
read or write to `task.html_notes`.

Deprecation timeline details for _New HTML Tags in Task Descriptions_ will  
clarified soon.
