It would be greatly appreciated if there was priority given towards this highly sought after ability to Duplicate an Existing Template without using the workaround, of convert to project and then convert again to template. This workaround forces users to re-view the new template and make many revisions/adjustments to correct due dates that are no longer “relatively” correct when compared to the original template. Especially clear when original template is set with a Days until Due Date versus the Days from Start Date option.
I agree this is a greatly needed function!
This is one of those features everyone on the team assumes is standard, but then you can’t figure out how; and have to come to the forum to see that it is not a standard feature and has been requested for a very long time. The argument against the feature (redundancy) would only be a problem for those who wouldn’t understand the point of using it. Please, let’s add this!
I’m hankering for the same thing. It’s quite intense to have to create a new template when you have a complex timeline with lots of relative start dates. The first time you break your brain setting all that timing stuff up, it hurts to think about doing it again.
Just jumping on to the pile of people requesting this feature.
Basically trying to create multiple variations of templates that have the same fundamental Rules, dynamic roles, etc., but that have different specifics.
Yes, it is possible to work around this…but we’d save quite a bit of time if we could simply duplicate a template, instead of having to manually configure each one, or using projects to to sidestep this issue (while losing information in the process).
This feature would be so useful! Do we know if this is in the pipeline for the product team? Thank you!
I would like to request this feature as well. Looks like tons of people want this. We run similar versions of projects from templates with varying relative due dates and slightly different order of operations so duplicating a template and then making those edits so I can have that variation of the template for the future would be extremely helpful.
This request has been sitting here for two and a half years. Asana, are you planning to do this? This query is not solved, despite it being marked as such!
Please move this request up the list of priorities! It seems like a simply request and reduce work for the end user.

Hello Asana Team, how about making this request move forward finally?!
Let’s go! You can do it! ![]()
Plus one to this suggestion! My team similarly has projects with the same “framework” and it would save me quite a lot of initial set-up time to be able to duplicate an existing template and then customize as needed, rather than recreating the whole structure from scratch.
Looking forward to when this (hopefully, finally) becomes a feature! ![]()
Hi @Susan_Mueller , welcome to the forum ![]()
Thanks for your input! Just make sure to scroll to the top of this thread (or click on the thread title) to find the purple vote button in the top left. Clicking that will literally add your ‘plus one’ ![]()
Please make this a high priority on this year’s roadmap, Asana team! The more work we put into a project template, the more complexity there is in the build, which makes this feature all the more crucial for companies trying to grow and expand.
+1 - have voted, but wanted to add a “why on earth don’t we have this already” comment, to echo those above. This is a major time waste when building out new workflows.
What everyone else said. This seems like an easy fix that shouldn’t be continually commented on 3 years later. Drag, drop, edit, done.
Currently trying to create multiple templates from one master template by saving it as a project then saving that project as the other templates. It reduced all my due date times and the amount seems to be random. Duplicate templates function would be very handy!!!
I agree 100%! Duplicating a template would be so useful!
The other problem with the workaround is that it creates a new project with a list of tasks that need to be deleted one by one, since if you delete the whole project the undone tasks aren’t deleted.
2 and a 1/2 years later and this is still not a feature…
