Adding Collaborator When Project Created from Email Import

Hello,

I am creating projects in Asana by sending emails from SolarWinds’ Web HelpDesk. I am limited to one email address (which is the Asana address), a subject (Asana project name), and text for the body of the email (Asana description). I want to have the person that submitted the HelpDesk ticket be added as a collaborator to the project.

I have an @mention of that person in the Asana description, but they are not added as a collaborator when the project is created. Is there a way to make Asana recognize the @mention when the project is created? Creating a rule to copy the description to a new comment would work, but that does not seem to be an option. Has anyone done something similar? Is there a work around?

Thanks.

@Tina_Pachl,

You don’t specify if you’re creating the project manually or via a rule, but have you tried adding the submitter as cc of your email? That will make them a task collaborator, and convert to project should make task collaborators project members according to this:

Thanks,

Larry

@lpb ,
Thanks for the input. The project is being created automatically from an email. Unfortunately, SolarWinds does not allow me to add a cc to the email.

I think the only solution, then, would be a third-party tool; sorry.
