Many tools support a command bar / command menu these days.
Command bars allow users to search, navigate, and invoke actions within apps. Often via a keyboard shortcut like ⌘ K or ⌘ J.
Asana currently supports a global search and navigation using ⌘ K but lacks the ability to invoke actions.
A command bar would, ideally support capabilities such as:
- Create objects on the fly: Create tasks, projects, etc. and define key information for them such as their location and description.
- Set values faster: Set field values for both default and custom fields, custom task statuses, favorite items, convert task types, promote and demote subtasks/tasks.
- Find anything fast: Get ranked search results across tasks, projects, portfolios, goals, and more.
- Jump to key views: Instantly navigate to My Tasks, Inbox, Reporting, and other top-level pages.
- Create with ease: Quickly start new tasks, projects, portfolios, goals, or messages.
- Smart Chat access: Seamlessly start a conversation with Asana’s Smart Chat.
