I just got access to ACM and the new Client features, which I am very excited about.
Is there a way to import a CSV of the client data? I have a client list from Harvest that I would like to import. If not, I am wondering if this is possible to do by assigning a task to an AI Teammate to do.
I would like to use Client Management system as well. But there currently is not a way to do mass import. When will Asana be adding this feature?
Hi @Erjon_Metohu! Right now, there isn’t a native way to bulk-import clients into Asana Client Management from a CSV file. The CSV importer creates tasks in projects, not client records. AI Teammates also can’t bulk create clients today.
A couple quick workarounds Ive used:
-
Import your CSV into a temporary project as tasks, then use that list as a checklist to add clients in the Client Directory. Its not automatic but it speeds things up, and you can track progress, owners, and due dates.
-
If you only need a subset to start, add your active clients first, then backfill the long tail over time.
Hope this helps
@Iren_Vilaniso thanks for responding and your suggestion, but unfortunately that’s not a solution as it still requires manually entry. As you suggested, I have started adding some of the current active clients for now and slowly add more.
I have spoken with our account executive at Asana and he mentioned that this is a top priority for the team and they are actively working on implementing the Client import capability, hopefully that includes Contacts as well.
Hi @Erjon_Metohu,
I went through Asana’s Client Management help articles and couldn’t find a CSV import for clients. The docs describe adding a client with “+ Create client” in the Clients directory, but don’t mention importing a client list:
Asana’s CSV importer is documented for tasks in projects, not client records (“The CSV importer can only add tasks to a project.”):
On the AI Teammate idea: the Client Management AI Teammates article describes them drafting and suggesting work for a person to approve, but it doesn’t mention creating client records:
In a related thread, an Asana moderator listed “CSV/spreadsheet import for clients and contacts” as a request worth sending through the trial feedback channel:
Disclosure: I’m on the Duaer team; this reply was drafted with AI help and checked against Asana’s docs.
