Ability to create tasks without assignees and due dates

I would love to be able to create tasks or a task template where you can remove the assignees and due dates sections at the top of the task.

I have projects and tasks that hold resources that do not need to be ‘completed’. For reference, I have an ‘assets’ project with tasks like ‘invoice template’, ‘coordinator toolkit’ as a way for staff to easily locate information.

Note: Not a solution but marked as such to elevate a key reply

Welcome, @Haley_Cubell,

You can remove Assignee and Due date columns from List view, in case that helps, with the Options menu toggles to show/hide fields there.

If you make all other members but you have Viewer permission in the project’s share dialog, then the ability to complete tasks will stop showing.

Don’t forget to click the title to scroll to the top and vote by clicking the purple Vote button.

Thanks,

Larry

@Haley_Cubell I was going to make a post for Asana to create a new task type. It really would not even be a task as it never gets marked complete to your point but if the word task needs to stay intact I was thinking “Information Task” or “Resource Task” would be a great addition to the platform as I would imagine that many organizations have a high count of tasks in their workspace that never get assigned and just contain information for reference by all users. @lpb has this ever been suggested yet? I see your suggestion which is great but I think on actual task type should be considered?

@Nicholas_Marco,

I agree with you and you can vote for that here, as I previously did:

My earlier answer here was just to offer a workaround; you can vote for both of these requests.

Thanks,

Larry
