+1 Would love this as well.
ay someone is listening to this need! I’m so grateful! I won’t be able to use your integration though.
- I only want ASSIGNED comments to appear in Asana. My team discusses things using the comments in a doc or sheet, and those comments are not always “tasks”. This integration would create far too many tasks in Asana for me
- I have no idea if this helps but there is a way to see all of your “assigned” comments in Google Drive using this search string: Google Drive: Sign-in
- I wonder if that could be utilized to only create tasks in Asana if there are new “assignments” in Drive.
- a billion.
+1 would also love to see this.
really important to workflow so please prioritize and make this possible

+1 to @dyani’s note that @Maggie_Reddi’s solution is a great start but doesn’t solve the issue.
+1 to Asana doing this natively, 5 years later!
Any update on this feature request? Would love to see this as well.
We currently manage a lot of content in Google docs, would be life changing if we could highlight a line or paragraph, then create an Asana task from that.
@all - I may have found a temporary workaround for this using the Asana browser extension. It still involves manual work but is faster than copy and pasting:
-
Install the Asana Chrome extension.
-
Open the Google Doc you’re working on and convert it to a web page:
-
Right-click on the line or paragraph, then click Add to My Tasks:
Hope that helps!
Hold up. . . Asana does this natively now? Oh please say this is true.
Have a look here: Google Drive + Asana • Asana
Especially this part:
Ahh, gotcha. So it’s all comments? No way to filter on for assigned comments?
Also chiming in for a need for this! Good solution @PolarBear but still hoping this can get some traction and attention to be considered.
Thank you!
Another vote to highlight something in google docs and right-click to create an asana task. Please?
Meanwhile you are waiting to implement this google docs just released a feature where tasks (checkboxes) can be assigned to people and end in their task list.
keep waiting…
